Hi everyone,

I've been busily putting together some videos after getting some advice from you all, and I'm slowly learning~
Today I uploaded a new one, but since it's in english and also talks about a question I get asked here a lot, I thought I'd share it with you.

I apologise for the slightly off audio, I swear it was all fine in my editing software. ; _ ; Originally it was also filmed in HD, but that didn't quite work out either...oh well.
(Still learning. Maybe next time)

Anyhow, enjoy! Hope it's useful info for some of you. :>

You mentioned "ask in the comments section." You were referring to putting together a pitch and portfolio. How?

Great video!  The audio was actually very good and the picture quality excellent.  So many videos put online are so terrible with the quality.  Thanks for the idea of sharing your professional advice!  I am sure it is going to help a lot of artists out there!  Your English is excellent and I love the accent.  You'r are so lovely and have a beautiful voice too, so it was nice watching you talk.  Sorry, couldn't help but mention it. LOL  Thanks my friend!  I really loved the latest deviation Dark Magic!  OMG!  So awesome!

I tried your sketch technique where you make layers and lower their opacity as you keep drawing ontop of one another.  I didn't quite get it, but it was interesting.  In the end, I eventually just started painting on one layer until I was happy with the picture.  XD

XD I am actually not English at all... I just had a lot of English teachers and my best friend is English. So um. I guess I learned to speak with an accent over time.
(I am German-japanese.)

That's so awesome!!! I hear that in Europe, it's common that people know a couple different languages because everyone's so close to each other. Did you grow up in Germany and just learn English because it was necessary? Or am I just completely off base?

well it is true for most with higher education, yes. I learned english since first grade, french since 4th.
I didn't grow up entirely in Germany though, I travelled a lot in my childhood. I was born in Tokyo, moved to germany for kindergarden, then moved to Hong Kong (1st grade), then Belgium, then Germany again. xDD
The entire time either english or french were mandatory. (usually with french you could pick french or latin, but no one picked latin..)

the school system changed a lot since I graduated though, so I think in Germany kids do learn english starting much earlier than it used to be. (I just always was in private schools for the longest time)

Woah. That's so awesome! (I know, typical thing to say, right? But I'm so completely jealous of your experiences, being stuck in America and all.) I grew up in Arizona, so our only language option for elementary school language was Spanish (not taught well at all, as I had it from 4th grade up and don't remember any of it). Did you enjoy travelling a lot?

Whoa, okay that's impressive as you actually have a regional English accent!  I would of assumed you were from the south-east of England, so- you obviously had some awesome teachers. A friend of mine is half English-half French, and she's learnt English since birth yet she still has a obvious French accent, but was brought up in England.
Idk I just find this fascinating that you have such accent yet are not English, where in the UK does your friend come from? Sorry curiosity is now getting the better of me :P

oh, really? haha, one English friend pointed out I had a 'posh' accent. XD I just pick up what I hear somewhat I think. (got some american habits from my fiancé as well since he's from New Jersey)
I'm not entirely sure where he lived longest, since he moved a lot actually. but I think close to Cambridge was the longest that I know of.
Now he lives and works in London though. C:
