Hi guys,

personally I am someone who doesn't like drawing fanart much but lately I have been wondering if I should attempt it from time to time.
When you think fanart combined with my art, which series comes to mind? What do you think would look good in my style?
I personally don't follow what's new and popular, and all the ones I pick are totally obscure to most... But I was curious if some of you have had any ideas or wishes (no guarantee I will draw them, but brainstorming for now!). :3

There's also a possiblily I will open up commissions soon, so just a heads up
Also, prints. If you have any requests, feel free to let me know!

  • Mood: Bemused
  • Reading: World War Z
  • Watching: Michael Palin, Sahara
  • Playing: Starbound
  • Drinking: coffee

Most of the stuff you draw is very emotional, so I would stick with drawing emotional fan art. So I think a good fit for you would be death note. Mostly because there are so many emotions going on through out the whole series. But if you haven't seen death note or you just don't like it then here is a list.

- Clannad
- Naruto
- Mushi-Shi
- Howl's moving castle
- Fruits basket
- Spirited away

Yes they are al anime, but your art has a anime/manga feel to it. Though if you don't agree with any of the suggestions, then just stick to something emotional, because that seems to be your in neighborhood. Hope I helped Shy

Did you watch Battle-B Daman some ten years ago? You know, the toys that shoot marbles?
Teddy-the-Yeti Featured By Owner Feb 10, 2014  Student General Artist
If you want to then by all means, go ahead~
I think your art-style could go with many series, movies, anime and so on.
especially your chibi-drawings, i think they can go with every one of them. x3
Some popular ones would be BBC's Sherlock, F.M. Alchemist, Marvel/DC stuff and
PACIFIC RIM! *goes and hide*

but just draw what you wish.   xP

Anime or cutesy/humorous versions of characters/scenes from popular movies. I must say though that you should only draw fan art if you really want to. That's what fan art is all about, anyway! Bunny Emoji-30 (I'm cute) [V2]

Your awesome style would make just about anything look epic! It would be really cool to see One Piece in your style....I can totally see it! :D

I feel the exact same way about fanart...
Himbeerfalter Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2014  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Uuuuh... I almost forgot games!!! xD (You already have some GW2 Fanart) And what about Ace Attorney, Legend of Zelda, Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed, LoL...
Himbeerfalter Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2014  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
:D Wow... that would be amazing! :D And what would be good looking in your style...? Hmm... I think mostly everything... :D It depends on how you draw it... but I think everything would work just fine... ^^

If you asked me what I would like to see most... wow... there would be plenty of stuff coming to my mind almost immediately... xD
Pokemon!, Adventure Time (Especially Marceline and Simon/Ice King), Avatar (the last Airbender), Supernatural, DrWho, OnePiece,... but I think FanArt should be something that you really like... I mostly draw stuff I want to see happening, or funny things... ^^ or because I really adore a character... ^^

Serious style (b/w, coloured for almost everything), chibi/funny style (for Pkmn, AT,... but they would also look good in serious style... same goes with DrWho and SPN), sexy style (silk and opium... for like... simply everything... ^^)

Wel, I believe that you have to draw fanart only if you want X3

Omu, Inception fanart would be awesome! :la:

Gosh girl I think you should draw fanart of whatever you're a fan of. o3o Half the time, fanart is so enjoyable because of how much the artist's love for the franchise/subject material shines through, you know?
Onivale Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2014  Hobbyist General Artist
I honestly don't follow a lot of recent anime or series. I think you should draw whatever you want despite it's obscurity. Actually, if you draw something obscure it becomes less obscure and maybe the fans who don't see it often will just be like "YES, MORE ART OF *insert fandom here*!" :D But Idk, I think you should do what feels right. Personally, I'm into Welcome to Nightvale, Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, and some book series. :B

You could draw fanart of characters from novels that you read, it would be fun to see how you depict each of them based on how they're described. :) It would be best to draw something that you like already since, in my opinion, fanart is done best when the person making it has a certain love for the series. :D
Good luck with whatever you decide to draw!
Grand-Masa Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2014  Student General Artist
I would only suggest you draw fanart if you yourself really want to do it. That said, you might learn a few extra tricks from a couple artists styles you try, which could be cool for you too :D

If you do choose to go with some fanarts now and then, which isn't a problem, it might be an idea to try out FMA,  mainly because you've said you really liked it. Other than that, it might be cool to make a collection of fanart of series that have influenced you or motivated you to become a graphic artist in the first case :D

Either way, I look forward to your art, and will be keeping a close eye on your page for when commissions open up :)

Berserk. Since IMO, the biggest ingredient to producing fanart is, as cliche as it sound, love for the series.
stitchpunkz Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2014
I think you should just draw whatever you're a fan off. It's your art after all. And I think it really doesn't have to 'suite' your style either (or the other way around). It's something you do for fun, to show something you enjoy. If you want to draw Tangled's Rapunzel, go ahead. Adventure Time, why not? The Winchester? Absolutely! I think it's really just a way to relax while working with something you enjoyed

Ansonsten schließe ich mich einigen Vorrednern an: Mal, was dir gefällt.

Since I found out that you like berserk I've been hoping you'd draw some fanart for it.  I think guts would look pretty good in your style.
Zombiesmile Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2014  Professional
hehe, it's on the very top of that list. :3 I just tend to plan it to be too gigantic , and I chicken out. ; _ ; I feel the pressure of making it as awesome as the series and get insecure if I can do it justice..
MangaKeri Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014   Digital Artist
It's a good idea to try every once in a while. It definitely generate more interest than original art, I find. (Then again, that's probably just me =I)

I don't think it should be what character would look good in your style, but whichever character you'd like to draw the most that should matter =3
Pikadventures Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014
Fanart is really fun to draw if you're really into a series. Don't worry about it being silly or anything. After all, Michelangelo did a lot of fan art back in the day as well. The Bible was all the rage back then.
Zombiesmile Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2014  Professional
haha, good point. xD thanks for your comment. :3
Pikadventures Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2014
you're welcome!

Might I suggest Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titans? It'd be cool to see them in your style and uhh, actually speaking German? I wouldn't understand what they'd be saying, but I always think it's cool when a character actually starts speaking the language of their origins. :U

You would try  draw Elza of FROZEN.:D (Big Grin)
Musashi-Twist Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I'm not really one to do fanart myself. I always feel like if I botch up fanart, I'm butchering the original work.

But honestly, do fanart if you want to do fanart. If you feel like you should dabble in fanart from time to time, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't pay too much attention to what's new and popular. Just draw fanart of things you like, and I'm sure everything else will fall into place.
Zombiesmile Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2014  Professional
oh yeah, I feel very much the same which is why I haven't done any major berserk fanart yet...the pressure of doing it justice is huge. ; _ ;

very true. thanks for the advice. C:

Yeah, I don't begrudge your reluctance to try and attempt such a thing.

But yeah, those were my two cents. Hope it helped.

Ich könne mir Fullmetal Alchemist wunderbar in deinem Zeichenstil vorstellen.
AGSanchezYo Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014  Hobbyist General Artist
The question is: do you WANT to do fan-art? Don't think about what looks good on your style, everyone will buy it either way BECAUSE it is fanart. However, doing fanart will give you a boost on your watchers. The more watchers, the more chances of commission work... promotion and whatnot. Check the tables at a comicon. Artists there have their own work printed but they also have fanart prints. They make money.

I think the point of fanart is drawing someone or something from a series or movie you enjoy yourself, otherwise it isn't really "fanart" per say. Just draw what you feel like if you ever do it, even if it's something obscure. Some of the best art I've drawn is fanart from series no one except me seems to know about, so just go for it. :P
Pharan Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014  Student General Artist
Yeah! Obscure fanart! Go for it!

They could even be parodies if you're not into serious fanart.
Espada-Kitsuki Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014  Hobbyist General Artist
I say you should draw what you feel like drawing. :) If you like a certain series and want to draw for it, by all means go ahead. But if you don't enjoy it, well, what would be the point?
bayobayo Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Personally, I think drawing fanart is a good exercise everybody now and then, so if you feel up to it, then you should. :la:

But you shouldn't force yourself to draw fanart that you're not comfortable with. If you do that, some of the people who appreciate your work might feel unsettled(?) by it. Anywho, I think you should still try it. :)
bayobayo Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014  Hobbyist Digital Artist
lol, typo. *EVERY now and then.
mwuhuha Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014
If you're someone who doesn't like to draw fanart then the only reason to do it would be for popular series in order to gain more exposure. I don't know what's popular now either though...Otherwise I'd stick to what you like! (Though your style plus Beck...probably just saying that because awesome guitars haha.)
TechnOkami Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014  Student General Artist
Well...  I mean, if you're a fan of something and you want to draw something from that thing you like, you should do that. If not, then don't.
Fires-storm Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014  Student General Artist
I'd recommend it, I draw fan art sometimes even just for good inspiration for other projects:)
ladyarrowsmith Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014
I don't think you should draw fanart just to draw fanart. That's very much a sell-your-soul type attitude. You should draw fanart because the characters and art itself brings you happiness. Doesn't matter if the topic is popular or not. But if I had any preference at all, it would be definitely Frozen fanart. :D

I might be confusing you with someone else but didn't you say you based your style on Kubo Tite's? Zombie Powder, specifically? I think most of his stuff would look great in your style. Also most shonen series as while you're capable of beautiful faces, your characters have muscle mass and strong masculine features when the need arises. I wouldn't object to seeing some One Piece if you're ever in the mood.

I also admire the Young Avengers commissions I ordered from you back in the day and will not be against seeing you draw more of that, or most things Marvel, in fact, but that's meeee
Anoki-Doll Featured By Owner Feb 7, 2014  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Personally I enjoy seeing peoples' own creations, but if you want to draw fanart you should draw things that you enjoy! :D I think it would be cool to see what you like and it could be a way to introduce others to your likes.
