If that's a big spider to you... well, I was going to say something about Australia, but that still is a big spider.

My point is I've seen bigger! Where I am, near Brisbane!

Yeah, but do Australian big spiders build their webs across pathways, and hang right at eye level?

We have a yellow spider kind of like that one that does a similar thing...for reasons I can't really fathom. I think it's called a Saint Andrew's Cross.

Oh yeah. Just googling it, the St Andrew's Cross Spider are related to the garden or writing spider here in the States.
They are about a half to 2/3rds the size of the Golden Orb Weavers. The G.O.W. does have relatives Down Under however, sharing their body shape and some even their colors.
These spiders have been documented catching not only larger insects, but also birds, and even snakes.

Here is a picture of an Australian cousin of the G.O.W. having caught a snake in her web.

It's one thing to think of a Tarantula doing this, but a stationary, mostly blind arachnid?

Heh.
What's real creepy cool where I live, on a warm summer night, I can see the eyes of wolf spiders reflecting my headlight like little gems in the leaves and pine straw. Those things don't get too big...though I did see one the size of a 1:64 scale car...
Though, when you have a spider the size of a G.I. figure hanging right of your face, it can be quite fear inducing....even if the spider is beautiful.
Golden Orb Weavers are the largest of their type of spider, and their webs are in proportion to their size.
I've even seen smaller different types of spiders make take up residence within the larger web of their distant cousin.

I have slight arachnophobia, but I am also fascinated by them too.

Human beings can be fascinated by what we're afraid of. Its a part of our nature. By understanding them, we lose our fear of them (hopefully).

Ehhhh, maybe. Honestly the spiders that scare me the most are tarantulas, while my favorites are the intelligent looking jumping spiders, especially the ones that can dance...

I'm you here xD

Probs because I don't fear spiders since what happened in the fourth grade..

STORY TIME!

It was the fifth lesson, and I was outside of the class with some friends, close to the toilet, crying because of something. I was sitting on a chair, my friends trying to calm me and make me laugh. I was covering my eyes because I was tired and the light was killing me. Then, I heard my friend scream, and then they yelled at me "WATCH OUT!" "THERE'S A HUGE SPIDER!!!!" "IT'S RIGHT INFRONT OF YOU!!", and then I saw it F*CKING RUNNING TOWARDS ME, and SOMEHOW, as if it was an instinct, I managed to jump on the chair I was sitting on in the last second. Then, I jumped as far as I could away from the chair and the spider. "Where is it?" I asked. "Went into the girls toilet." They answered. And then, the Math teacher came out of our class, and yelled at us to get in.

..And that's also why I never used the girls toilet ever again.

In the spider house you have to shoot skullchulas. They're giant tarantulas with skulls on their back. They also appear in other Legend of Zelda games mostly to drop down and try to kill you.
